Argentique is a complex project, which aims to restore normality to the different photographic techniques, from the oldest to digital photography. Abandoning the concept of “ancient technique surpassed by new processes”, extraneous to any form of art, we aim to return photography to the conscious and mature use of artists who choose the technique best suited to their own poetry, away from typical prejudices and fads of the consumer market.
We found it useful to give authors and users of classic photography a regular publication, a website, a circuit of shows, a selection of artists and books, exclusively dedicated to analog photography.
This project does not want to feed the dualism “Analog vs. Digital “, but cannot avoid to stress that the reading code of digital images entails a culture of possible manipulation, extraneous to that of classic photography.
